Join the Good in the Neighborhood

Be first to hear about important issues that impact East Dallas by signing up for e-mail updates. We’ll share upcoming events, project information and ways to become involved in improving our community for all.

Who We Are

We are a community of 2,000 East Dallas residents who joined together in opposition of a proposed industrial zoning project in our residential neighborhood. In just fourteen days, we mobilized and successfully created a community information campaign that resulted in city council’s unanimous denial of the project. Our continued goal is to unite and inform our neighbors and to support projects that enhance the quality of life for all East Dallas residents.

EDGG Hosts COVID-19 Vaccine Registrations

East Dallas Greater Good, a community group that first joined together last year to oppose a concrete batch plant in a residential neighborhood of East Dallas, has turned its community organizing focus to vaccine education and registration outreach. These efforts target the predominantly Spanish-speaking community in some of the hardest- hit areas of East Dallas. Registration assistance was provided in both Spanish and English.

Latino community members often face numerous obstacles in receiving timely and accurate information about the coronavirus pandemic and vaccine distribution, including language and technology barriers. Traditional media platforms that English- speaking residents use are not adequately serving Spanish-speakers, and more must be done to ensure that all members of the community are aware of the registration requirement and can make an informed decision about receiving the vaccine.

Zacha Junction

We believe no neighborhood should have to defend itself from bad zoning. Although Zacha Junction (PD 5) has been zoned for industrial uses since 1954, additional industrial uses are no longer compatible with the thriving residential community it is surrounded by today. Through our efforts, we’ve also become greatly concerned by  deficiencies in the city’s zoning notification process. Our neighbors deserve the opportunity to oppose zoning that negatively impacts their health, property values and quality of life. We’ve asked for the opportunity to collaborate with the city to review the existing process to allow for the inclusion of a greater reach of impacted residents for these types of facilities and for a study on the appropriateness of the current zoning of PD 5. We believe these improvements are beneficial to our neighbors, to future applicants and for the growth of our city.
